Iron Lynx confirms title defence with two Pro cars, Iron Dames expands to full Endurance Cup assault

Iron Lynx will defend its Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup drivers' title this year with a two-car programme, while the sister Iron Dames squad will expand to a full assault on the long-distance championship.

The #51 Ferrari of Alessandro Pier Guidi, Nicklas Nielsen and Come Ledogar captured the Endurance crown and victory at the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa in a glittering 2021 season. In a continuation of last year's programme, Iron Lynx will aim to earn more silverware this term with a pair of Pro entries.

Drivers are set to be announced at the end of February, though at least two changes are certain: Ledogar recently announced a switched to Porsche squad Dinamic Motorsport, while Callum Ilott departs the #71 crew to compete in IndyCar.

The all-female Iron Dames squad made two appearances last term, joining the grid at Circuit Paul Ricard and for the season finale at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. It will expand to a full-time Endurance Cup effort in 2022, including a maiden run at the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa, while the team is also set to compete under its own licence.

Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting and Rahel Frey will share the Iron Dames Ferrari, competing in the new Gold Cup class that debuts this season. Bovy was ever-present in the team's 2021 line-up, while Gatting joined for the Barcelona round. Frey counts as the team's Pro driver and is set to return to the Endurance Cup for the first time since 2014, having previously driven Audi machinery in the long-distance championship.

Both the Iron Lynx and Iron Dames squads will be present at the official Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS test days at Circuit Paul Ricard on 7-8 March. The Endurance Cup season begins at Imola on 1-3 April before visiting Circuit Paul Ricard (3-5 June), the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa (28-31 July), Hockenheim (2-4 September) and Barcelona (30 September-2 October).
