Pure Rxcing Porsche tops disrupted Pre-Qualifying

The #911 Pure Rxcing Porsche led the way in a disrupted Pre-Qualifying at Spa-Francorchamps.

Pro driver Klaus Bachler set a 2m17.924s to put the Bronze Cup challenger at the top of the overall order, beating class rival Henrique Chaves (#188 Garage 59 McLaren) by 0.131s. The sister #159 McLaren of Marvin Kirchhöfer was third and the best of the Pro cars, followed by the top Silver Cup entrant, Lorenzo Patrese, in the #99 Tresor Orange1 Audi.

Tom Gamble made it three McLarens in the top-five and paced the Gold Cup in the #5 Optimum Motorsport machine. Indeed, the only class not represented in the first five was Pro-Am, with the #78 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini placing 18th overall courtesy of Patrick Kujala

While the first half of the session was run under green flag conditions, much of the second 30 minutes was interrupted. A red flag was shown at the halfway point after the #2 GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG ran through the gravel at Speakers Corner, which required the session to be neutralised to allow a clean-up.

The track went green again, but it wasn't long before another yellow Mercedes-AMG caused a stoppage. This time it was the #64 HRT entry, driven by Naveen Rao, which spun into the Speakers Corner gravel bed. The car was beached and the red flag flew for a second time.

With eight minutes remaining the session resumed, only for a third Mercedes-AMG to suffer an incident. On this occasion it was the flame-liveried #75 Sun Energy1 car driven by Kenny Habul, who crashed at Raidillon. The Australian driver climbed from the car in some discomfort and was subsequently attended to by the medical team.

Cars will be back on-track at 21:10 for Qualifying, which will be streamed live on the GT World YouTube channel
