VR46 fans are already counting down to this year’s CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa (26–30 June) when Valentino Rossi will make his third bid for victory in the Belgian endurance classic.
On Friday, Rossi was named among an all-star line-up in the #46 BMW M4 GT3. The announcement came during a Team WRT event at Place Royale in Spa, the same location that the annual parade will take place on Wednesday June 26
The Belgian squad led by Vincent Vosse will field a trio of cars this year. In doing so, it will chase its third outright victory at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa – and its first in 10 years.
The #46 will undoubtedly be a huge favourite among fans, with Rossi once again aligned with local legend and 2016 winner Maxime Martin. Their line-up is completed by BMW’s latest addition: 2022 race winner Raffaele Marciello. Unquestionably, this is a crew to take very seriously.
The sister #32 machine will also be popular among the Belgian supporters. Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts will continue their bid for home victory, with 2022 DTM champion Sheldon van der Linde once again sharing the wheel. Like the #46, this must be considered a potential winner.
A third Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 will be entered in the Bronze Cup. The #30 machine will be shared by the experienced Ahmad Al Harthy, reigning GT Open champion Sam De Haan, and official BMW driver Jens Klingmann, the latter returning to WRT after winning last year’s 24 Hours of Dubai.
So, can Team WRT find its way back to the top and win again on home soil? We’ll find out on Sunday June 30.
